Chapter 3 Blog Question (Izzat Syahmi)

There are times when family affairs disappoint you. On page 79 ‘Outside the Box’, there are four suggestions on how to handle disappointment. What do you think of each suggestion? If you do not have issues that are family related (include the wider family, adoptive family, guardian), consider other disappointments in your life with other people who are supposedly close to you.

I agree that we do have to take it easy on ourselves as if we keep blaming ourselves we would just make our lives even more miserable and for worst case scenario, attempting suicide. We just have to accept the fact and move on. I do not really agree that we have to find a positive way to look at a situation no matter what the situation as there may be times that you have lost a family member and you are disappointed that you did not get to interact with them more. This could be a case where no matter what, there may not be a positive way to look at the situation. I agree that we have to know that everyone faces disappointment, and that the feelings that go along with it won’t last forever. This is because we feel better that we are not alone and that no matter how long it takes for us to feel better, we’d be able to move along in life with joy. I agree that we have to find a healthy way to express our emotions as we can slowly recover from the disappointment or at least help us calm down from it. Although we do have to stress the point that it must be a healthy way.
