Family affairs Ch 3 (Mikhael 21)

There are times when family affairs disappoint you. On page 79 ‘Outside the Box’, there are five suggestions on how to handle disappointment. What do you think of each suggestion? If you do not have issues that are family related (include the wider family, adoptive family, guardian), consider other disappointments in your life with other people who are supposedly close to you.

I think that the first suggestion would work well, but not in the long run because, doing something that makes you feel good only would get your mind of whatever was depressing you for a while, as you could not possibly be doing something that makes you feel good every day.

The second suggestion also could help, and even longer that the first perhaps, after thinking about what was depressing you, you may see a whole different side to it or realize that its not that big a deal and that there is no need to feel depressed about it. Or maybe you find out that it is good for you and use it to your benefit.

The third suggestion however may not really work because even if you know that other people are feeling depressed, It does not help you get out of your depression in any way. All it does is makes you feel less alone and that there are other people that feel like you do.

The fourth suggestion, is a little like the first, it distracts you from your depression by doing other activities, this may work better as if you have a creative idea you could be thinking about it for a long time and you may forget about what was upsetting you.

The fifth suggestion is one of the best, If you think of all the good things and privileges that you have, the bad things that make you feel depresses seem smaller and less significant. Always think on the bright side of life.

If I ever get disappointed by my friends or my family, I do not make much of a deal of it, I just move on and for get about it.
